Liverpool have won the race to sign Valencia left-back Aly Cissokho, after the club agreed a loan deal with Spanish side Valencia for the French international.

Cissoko had been heavily linked with a move to Sunderland, after Liverpool had reportedly ended their pursuit and turned their attentions to Guilherme Siqueira of Granada.

However reports this morning suggest Liverpool have finalised a deal which will see the full-back join Anfield on a season-long loan.

Brendan Rodgers had made no secret of his desire to bring in another left-back to the squad, with the manager keen to provide cover for Spaniard Jose Enrique.

Liverpool have been busy so far during the transfer window, with Cissokho joining the likes of Simon Mignolet, Kolo Toure, Iago Aspas and Luis Alberto, as the Reds strive to achieve a top-four spot and return to the Champions League.

They begin their Premier League campaign tomorrow (Saturday) when they host Stoke City.
