Liverpool have begun talks with financially hit Russian side Anzhi Makhachkala over a proposed transfer for Brazilian starlet Willian.
Brendan Rodgers is keen to add to his growing squad with Willian in line to become his sixth summer signing.
The transfer fee for the 25-year old is expected to eclipse the £23m Rodgers has already spent bringing in the likes of Simon Mignolet from Sunderland, Kolo Toure from Manchester City, Aly Cissokho and Spanish duo Iago Aspas and Luis Alberto from La Liga.
Anzhi are now trying to offload their top earners after their billionaire owner Suleyman Kerimov shocked the club announcing he is to stop financing the side.
Willian has managed only a dozen appearances for the Russian side since joining from Shakhtar Donetsk for a fee in the region of €35m at the start of the year.
Liverpool had previously been linked to the Brazilian starlet but where pipped to the signing by the Russian side who were able to pay much profitable wages.
As well as the expected departure of Willian, team mate Samuel Eto could also be joining the Brazilian in the Premier League this season, with the former Barcelona legend reportedly happy to take a pay-cut in order to join Chelsea.
Russian duo Igor Denisov and Yuri Zhirkov have already left Anzhi, both joining rivals Dinamo Moscow.
