There are those who will dispute it until the end of the world, but the majority consensus is that Lionel Messi is better than Cristiano Ronaldo.

Having already concreted his legacy alongside the greats in the annals of football history, the Argentine forward has plenty of years left in which to affirm the view that he is the most naturally gifted footballer to have ever lived.

With this in mind, some will ponder who is next? Which budding young body of brilliance will grow to become 'the next Messi', if this feat is at all feasible.

We take a look at five players who have the potential to become the best in the world in due time. Will they match the magic of Barcelona's talismanic champion? Probably not. But let's not rule anything out just yet...
