Chelsea to offer £25m for Colombian star

Published 10 Comments

Chelsea plan to make a £25 million bid for Porto star Jackson Martinez, according to The Metro.

The Blues are starting to give up hope of signing Wayne Rooney, after seeing bids of £25m and £30m rejected by Premier League rivals Manchester United.

And now Jose Mourinho has switched his attention to the Colombian star. The 26-year-old was in fine form for the Portuguese outfit last season as he scored 34 goals in 43 games in 2012/13.

Despite Martinez having a £35m release clause, the Blues believe they can get the hit-man for £10m less.

Samuel Eto'o could be Mourinho's third option, but his demands of a £300,000-a-week salary could put the Stamford Bridge outfit off.

The Blues currently have three main attackers to chose from, with Demba Ba, Fernando Torres and Romelu Lukaku at Mourinho's disposal.

They begin their Premier League season at home against Hull City on Sunday.
