Manchester City defender Matija Nastasic is set to return from training ahead of schedule, according to manager Manuel Pellegrini.
Nastasic was carried off on a stretcher on 27 July, in a pre-season game against fellow Premier League side Sunderland. It was thought he would be out for four to six weeks after the severity of the damage was announced.
"He is not ready for the next match but next week he will work normally with the whole squad," said a buoyant Pellegrini.
Meanwhile in other news, City striker Sergio Aguero is set for a return in Monday’s Premier League encounter against Newcastle, having missed all seven of games of City’s pre-season tour.
Pellegrini added: "He is fine, no problem. He has worked with us normally for the last 10 days so he is not a problem."
Last but not least comes some further news on winger Scott Sinclair, who joined the club just under a year ago.
The 24-year-old made a handful of starts last season, and has been pushed further down the pecking order due to the recent signing of highly-rated winger Jesus Navas.
"He wants to play more and he has important players that play in the same position," informed Pellegrini.
"We will see what happens with him today and tomorrow. If he wants to go on loan to play more, we will try to give him that."
