MLS youngster scores with audacious backheel lob

Published 2 Comments

Juan Agudelo of the New England Revolution has reminded the world of football that the MLS is becoming a hotbed of terrific football.

The 20-year-old scored an incredible goal, both for its skill and its cheek, against the Chicago Fire in what proved to be the winner in a tight match.

After a hopeful long pass from Chris Tierney, it looked as though Agudelo had missed his chance after misinterpreting the bounce of the ball and over running it.

However, with the goalkeeper approaching, the young Colombian attempted an audacious back-heel lob.

Put down to luck or skill, the ball sailed over the despairing 'keeper and went in.

However, controversy ensued as the defender, who attempted to clear the ball in vain, didn't think the ball crossed the line.

Without the benefit of goal-line technology and a lack of camera angles, we will never know for sure if this golazo really was a goal at all.
