Bundesliga 2 ace scores 45-yard lob - but did he mean it?

Published 4 Comments

Karlsruher SC slipped to a 2-1 defeat to Greuther Furth at the weekend but Karlsruher star Michael Vitzthum scored the pick of the goals with a stunning 45-yard lob.

The newly promoted side went ahead when Vitzthum’s floated cross-shot sailed over the head of Furth goalkeeper Wolfgang Hesl.

The German stopper was left red-faced, but it’s unclear whether Vitzthum meant it or not – it looks like an pretty terrible shank if he didn’t.

But in the end it didn’t matter as Furth – who spent last season in the top flight – fought back with two goals after the interval to take the three points.

They nabbed an equaliser through Kevin Kraus, before Dominick Drexler struck the winning goal just ten minutes from the final whistle.

But Vitzthum’s effort was the pick of the bunch – check it out in the video below – and thanks to for getting the clip up first.

What do you think - did the Karlsruher SC midfielder mean to score or was he actually trying to cross it into the box?
