French international set to leave Paris Saint-Germain
Mamadou Sakho looks set to leave the French champions after falling out of favour under Laurent Blanc
Paris Saint-Germain manager Laurent Blanc has confirmed that defender Mamadou Sakho has expressed his desire to leave the club.
With first-team opportunities not a guarantee under Blanc, the French international will now be focused on securing a move away from the Ligue 1 champions and reportedly submitted a transfer request last week.
The 23-year-old is considering his options with Liverpool and AC Milan vying to sign the centre-back, while newly promoted French outfit Monaco also interested in him according to Daily Express.
Sakho will be hoping to secure regular appearances, with the World Cup next year in Brazil, to catch the eye of national coach Didier Deschamps.
The centre-half has fallen out of favour at PSG with Thiago Silva and Alex establishing themselves as the preferred choice and new signing Marquinhos adding further competition for places at PSG.
And the Anfield side remains the front-runner as they look to bolster their defensive options with doubts over the future of Martin Skrtel and Daniel Agger being linked with possible moves to Napoli and Barcelona respectively.
Liverpool have tabled a bid of £8million for Sakho after they saw their bid to sign Greece defender, Kyriakos Papadopoulos fail when Schalke raised their asking price to £18million at the last minute, according to Metro.
While Liverpool want to make a permanent transfer, Italian giants AC Milan are looking to get the talented defender on a season-long loan with a permanent move next year.
Sakho seems flattered by the interest shown by historical clubs like Liverpool and Milan and have said that he will see what happens in the coming days.
Barcelona are also keen to bring in another defender and could turn to the Frenchman as a possible signing.
One of the talented youngster in French football, came up the ranks in the youth system of PSG ultimately securing first team spot in 2010. He has made 105 appearances since adding to the 14 matches for France.
He was given ample chances by Carlo Ancelotti last year when he was in charge of PSG, making 34 appearances in all competitions in their Ligue 1 winning 2012-13 season.
