Alan Pardew is still determined to bring in a striker this transfer window in order to bolster the attacking force of Newcastle United.

Pardew has admitted to having a frustrating time in the market this summer, with the likes of Loic Remy being ruled out for the next month due to a calf injury. Remy is Newcastle's main signing this summer, but due to injury woes Pardew will be looking to bring in another main striker in order to back up the French star - who is on a season long loan from Championship side Queens Park Rangers.

Pardew has already come close to making a major signing this summer in the shape of Darren Bent, before the England star chose Fulham instead making the summer transfer market even more frustrating for Pardew.

"Last year we were shy of strikers especially after Demba Ba left, and we need to make sure we have a sound back-room in terms of strikers," said the manager ahead of their opening fixture against Manchester City on Monday night.

Despite all the rumours circulating in the press regarding Newcastle, Pardew still remains happy with the set-up at St James' Park, despite the appointment of Joe Kinnear as Director Of Football.
