Arsenal are planning an audacious £20m bid to land the former Manchester United youngster Paul Pogba, who has flourished at Juventus, according to reports.
Pogba, 20, joined Serie A champions Juventus last summer after failing to secure a first-team spot in the Manchester United midfield.
However, his decision to leave Old Trafford paid off, with the French starlet going on to score five goals in 27 impressive league appearances, winning the Serie A title and earning a call-up to the France national team as a result.
Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger is believed to be a keen admirer of his compatriot's talents and will make a big-money offer in an late attempt to strengthen his midfield, which currently lacks steel.
The Gunners' midfield and defensive frailties were exposed on Saturday by Aston Villa, who recorded a shock 3-1 victory at the Emirates Stadium on the opening day of the 2013/14 Premier League season.
That surprise defeat appears to have prompted Arsenal into action. As well as lining up an offer for Pogba, the north London outfit have also bid for Newcastle United's French midfielder Yohan Cabaye.
