It's rare that Cristiano Ronaldo misses the target, but it's unheard of for him to make a mistake worthy of a viral video.

It seems as though the Portuguese ace is just as prone to error as the rest of the footballing world, however.

During Real Madrid's opening clash against Betis, Ronaldo slightly misjudged a cross and came startlingly close to kicking himself in the face with the subsequent bicycle kick.

Fortunately the result was simply that the ball left his foot, hit his face and sailed harmlessly high and wide.

Madrid eventually won the match 2-1, with new signing Isco possibly taking some of the heat off of Ronaldo by turning in a very impressive debut performance which he capped with a goal.
