Liverpool are ready to renew interest in highly-rated Sporting Lisbon defender Tiago Ilori, reports the Daily Mirror.
The 20-year-old centre-back has been on the Merseyside club's radar most of the summer, and as talks over a new contract with Sporting continue to stall, he has been linked with a move away from Estádio José Alvalade.
Reds boss Brendan Rodgers had a £3million bid for Ilori turned down earlier this transfer window, with the Portuguese outfit rating the youngster at double that price.
That £6million valuation was thought to have put Liverpool off making a renewed offer for the player, but now it looks as though the Premier League club will step up their attempts to lure Ilori to Anfield.
Liverpool scouts were present for Sporting Lisbon's 5-1 home win over Arouca on Sunday, although Ilori did not feature as speculation continues to cast doubt over his long-term future.
Representatives from both sides are planning to hold further talks in an attempt to broker a deal, with Rodgers hopeful that the two parties will be able to meet somewhere in the middle of their respective valuations.
