Liverpool are poised to complete their fifth signing of the summer when France international Aly Cissokho joins on a season-long loan after he successfully completed a medical, according to The Mirror.
Cissokho was linked with a move to Sunderland earlier in the transfer window but Brendan Rodgers looks to have won the race, as Cissokho joins on an initial loan with a view to a permanent £4m move next summer.
The Liverpool manager had identified the left-back position as one that needed strengthening, with a lack of top quality competition for Jose Enrique a concern for the Northern Irishman.
Rodgers hopes that this will be followed quickly by the £28m capture of Anzhi Makhachkala star Willian but the Russian club are thought to want at least £30m for their prized asset. Although they may find their hands tied as the playmaker has made it clear he would be keen to play in the Premier League.
Despite this, Liverpool face tough competition for the Brazilian's signature from Tottenham Hotspur, with reports claiming that the player will decide on his future in the next 24 hours.
