Bulgarian star sent off for cowardly crunch tackle

Published 1 Comments

Oud-Heverlee Leuven defender Ivan Bandalovski was sent off for a disgraceful mistimed tackle in the 90th minute of Sunday's Belgian Pro League clash with Standard Liege.

With his side 1-0 down in the closing stages of the match, the 26-year-old Bulgarian international let his frustration boil over, and was given his marching orders after a cowardly crunching challenge from behind on Geoffrey Mujangi Bia.

Bandalovski receives an automatic two-game ban from the Belgian Football Association, meaning he will miss upcoming ties against Lokeren (August 24) and Cercle Brugge (August 31).

The full-back must also pay a fine of 400 euros, for his act of dangerous foul play, which should deter him from committing any future tackles of that nature which could result in further disciplinary action.
