Arsenal striker Olivier Giroud has urged his side to sign a new striker after admitting that it is a necessity to bring in fresh faces.
After a summer which has seen the club linked with a raft of big names such as Luis Suarez, Gonzalo Higuain and Wayne Rooney, free transfer Yaya Sanogo is the only new arrival.
Arsene Wenger's failure to add to this signing has caused tension among the club's fan-base and emotions boiled over in the crowd during the 3-1 home defeat to Aston Villa last Saturday.
Giroud has since conceded that new players are required for Arsenal to adequately challenge for honours this season and he told Le Parisien: "In my opinion it is necessary for the club to sign another striker. Obviously I think about it a little bit.
"It's useless lamenting this though. I know what I have to do and what I'm capable of. I'm focusing on me and my work. The coach is counting on me."
The Frenchman will lead the Arsenal line as they take a wounded squad to Turkey to face Fenerbahce on Wednesday night and Wenger will know that defeat would make world class signings even more difficult to attract.
