Reports claim that Tottenham are on the verge of completing a double swoop, with Willian and Erik Lamela tipped to make a move to White Hart Lane.

Tottenham have already spent a significant amount in securing the services of Paulinho, Nacer Chadli, Roberto Soldado and Etienne Capoue. Further arrivals indicate that Gareth Bale might be on his way out.

At the moment Tottenham are well placed to face the situation of Bale's move to Real Madrid. A potential exchange of Fabio Coentrao along with money to finance other moves indicates smart piece of business done by Daniel Levy, Franco Baldini and Andre Villas-Boas.

Argentine Lamela is tipped to join the north London outfit along with Brazilian Willian to plug the gaps which might form due to Bale's potential departure. But in reality both of them can improve the current squad significantly with or without Bale making way for them, especially the 21-year-old Roma hotshot Lamela.

Lamela was the best performer for Roma in Serie A last season. His incredible pace and ability to play on both the wings can be a lethal addition to Tottenham's attack.

Spurs looked a little bit out of depth on wings last season when Bale moved to a more central role. With the addition of a dribbler liker Lamela, who is considered as the next big thing in Argentina, Spurs fans will be in for a treat at White Hart Lane. The arrival of Chadli in place of Clint Dempsey has already upgraded them and Lamela is expected to take their wing play to the next level.

Spurs are also preparing for life in a 4-3-3 formation following the arrivals of Paulinho and Capoue. Lamela will be a better bet than Andros Townsend or Aaron Lennon as the wide forward in an attack-minded Tottenham side.

In fact, the Roma star had registered 99 successful dribbles to his name in the last season, averaging three per match which is more than Bale's stats in the same field. Lamela has also registered 15 goals and five assists to his name and is known for his creative vision apart from sound dribbling abilities.

Lamela's ability to hug the touchline to deliver the cross or to cut inside to unleash powerful shots can bamboozle the opposition defence. Lamela at 21, can still develop to became an even better player which will be more attractive to the likes of Spurs and other parties interested in his services.

With or without Bale, Lamela can improve the standard of Spurs' squad. It remains to be seen how the scenario unfolds. Even if Gareth Bale departs White Hart Lane, Spurs fans won't be sorry if they can witness the likes of Lamela and other stars in action competing for trophies.
