Pablo Zabaleta is delighted with Manchester City's emphatic win against Newcastle on Monday night, but still believes the title race will be more competitive than ever this season.

City recorded the biggest win in the opening set of Premier League fixtures when they routed Newcastle 4-0 at the Etihad stadium, and Zabaleta is confident that they will be in the title picture come the end of the season.

He said: "There is a long way to go but we are very positive. We have a very strong squad and obviously we will try to win as many trophies as we can.

"The battle for the title will be good. I think Spurs are a very strong team and also Liverpool are coming back.

"Then obviously Chelsea, United and Arsenal. Arsenal didn't have the best start to the season but it is going to be a very interesting season."

28-year old Zabaleta has just signed a new four-year contract with the club he joined in 2008 and has become one of Manchester City's most impressive performers since then.

The Argentinian has put this down to 'feeling at home' in Manchester and will be looking to help his side overcome a disappointing last year.
