Brazilian international Paulinho hopes that Gareth Bale will change his mind about his decision to leave Tottenham Hotspur.
Bale has been heavily linked with a move away from White Hart Lane this summer as Real Madrid are willing to break the bank with a reported bid of £93 million for the winger tabled.
Bale has made his attentions clear that he wants to move to Spain but the Brazilian hopes that the winger hangs around for now.
"I sincerely don’t know, but I think this is something more private for Bale, he doesn’t tell me anything," he told Fox Sports Brazil.
"But I hope he continues with us, so that he can help us. He is a great player and achieved great stats last season, so I hope he stays with us."
Paulinho is one of the players that manager Andre Villas-Boas will add a creative edge to his side, even more so if the inevitable departure of Bale does go through.
And the Brazilian was understandably delighted with receiving the man of the match award on his debut in a 1-0 victory over Crystal Palace at the weekend.
“I am very happy with the win in the Premier League and also for getting the Man of the Match trophy on my debut," he added.
In other news Spurs are reportedly close to landing Willian and Erik Lamelo. They have already tied up deals for Roberto Soldado, Nacer Chadli and Paulinho in what has been a busy transfer window for the North London side.
