EA Sports have announced a number of improvements to FIFA 14 ahead of the game's release in late September.

Real ball physics, precision movement and pure shot were some of the key tag lines used by David Rutter, the game's executive producer, during an announcement at Gamescom in Cologne.

Additionally, the newest version will have 33 official licensed leagues - more than ever before - which means 600 authentic clubs and 16,000 real players. For those wanting to chance their arm in the Argentinian and Brazilian top flights, the opportunity is now there.

Perhaps more importantly to gamers in Europe, more Italian clubs have been added, as well as the official Brazil team full of star players.

FIFA 14 players were also comforted with news that, if they buy and play the game on their PS3 or Xbox 360, they can transfer their achievements to next gen consoles if they 'upgrade' mid-season. Given that EA Sports release FIFA in September and plenty of new machines will be purchased around Christmas, this will be a very important move for plenty of gamers.

Two other major announcements were made, one regarding 'legends' in the FIFA Ultimate Team, and the other giving a sneak peak at the potential of the game using the EA Sports Ignite engine on the new consoles.

Both of these topics will be covered in specific articles, which can be found on the GiveMeSport FIWC page. To read these stories and the latest news from Gamescom in Cologne, click here: www.givemesport.com/fiwc
