Liverpool are reported to be the frontrunners to sign highly-rated Derby midfielder Will Hughes, and could complete the signing of the teenager before the end of the week.
Hughes is regarded as one of the best young players outside of the Premier League and, according to Metro, an offer from Liverpool for England under-21 international is imminent.
Liverpool will reportedly offer £6 million for Hughes, who has also been linked with Chelsea, Arsenal and Manchester United, having broken into the Derby first team last season.
Brendan Rodgers sent his chief scout, Dave Fallows, to watch Hughes in action for England's under-21s last week and a positive report on the player appears to have been sent back to the Liverpool boss.
Liverpool remain active in the transfer window as the days tick away, and will be hopeful that Hughes is not their only signing before the deadline on September 2.
The Reds have lodged a bid for Anzhi star Willian, although it would appear they will be beaten to his signature by Tottenham, with the Brazilian reported to be undergoing a medical in London.
Liverpool have already signed Kolo Toure, Simon Mignolet, Iago Aspas, Luis Alberto and Aly Cissokho this summer.
