Premier League champions Manchester United will turn their attention to Southampton left-back Luke Shaw if they fail to sign Leighton Baines from Everton, according to the Express.
The 18-year-old, who only signed a new five-year deal with Southampton last month, has emerged as one of the Premier League's most exciting talents over the last 12 months - and United boss David Moyes has enquired over his availability.
However, the Red Devils are unlikely to succeed in their pursuit of the English full-back this summer, with Southampton not in a position where they need to sell and the player himself content to stay at St Mary's.
Shaw is the latest talented youngster to emerge from Southampton's famed youth academy, and impressed in his debut season as a professional thanks to a series of assured performances.
Shaw's market value will almost certainly increase over the coming months and years - and United may try their hardest to purchase him this summer, while he's still relatively cheap.
