The New York Red Bulls currently sit joint top of the Major League Soccer's Eastern Conference after a series of strong results against Sporting KC and Real Salt Lake.

The Red Bulls' main problem in keeping the top spot is consistency. Their results record speaks for itself, with a defeat to Columbus and a dull 0-0 draw with Philadelphia. There are several reasons why the Red Bulls are faltering, which if they can fix, will surely see them with a great chance of winning some silverware.

Thierry Henry is a name which should be familiar with most fans across the world, whether it's for his accolades or his controversy over the years. His current goal drought is his longest in the MLS as he continues to strive for his first goal in over seven matches

It is, however, not for the lack of trying. With a memorable piece of genius against Real Salt Lake, for example, he struck the post after a stunning run. If Henry can find his magic again then the Red Bulls will have a sharp attack with a lot of the goalscoring pressure being on the likes of Fabian Espindola who, like the Red Bulls, is inconsistent and also Peguy Luyindula who has failed to impress.

Chemistry is the second area in which the Red Bulls must improve with the constant changing of the makeup of the team - especially in midfield and defence - having caused a disruption in the chemistry of the squad as players try to build up a new understanding. The Red Bulls' midfield of Tim Cahill and Dax McCarty is one area which must be kept the same as the two of them have been the spine for a lot of the Red Bulls' decent results along with the supporting act of Jonny Steele, Lloyd Sam and Eric Alexander.

Keeping the squad fit is the last and possibly most crucial area as it links back up with the chemistry. If the squad can stay fit for the remainder of the season without too many changes, then the Red Bulls have a real chance of getting their hands on some silverware. The fans, who are always there to show support, are just wanting something to cheer about and some silverware will certainly do the job.

Should the Red Bulls had dipped into the transfer market? Maybe, maybe not. The window is closed now and they have to stick with the squad they have got and just aim to grind out the results for the remainder of the season.
