Besiktas line up Alexander Buttner deal

Besiktas are hoping to complete the loan signing of Manchester United left-back Alexander Buttner, according to the Daily Mail.

Buttner's agent Aleksander Bursac recently told Renascenca Radio that Benfica had recently cooled their interest in his client - leaving Turkish side Besiktas favourites for his signature.

The left-back's expected departure will fuel further speculation that Leighton Baines could be on his way to Old Trafford.

Dutch full-back Buttner - who signed for Manchester United from Vitesse Arnhem last summer - failed to hold down a regular place in Sir Alex Ferguson's first-team plans.

And the 24-year-old's situation seems to have worsened under new manager David Moyes as the former Everton boss is said to be readying a third bid for Baines.

If Baines was to sign for the Premier League champions, Buttner would fall down to third in the left-back pecking order - with Baines likely to challenge Patrice Evra for a starting role.
