Tottenham set to resurrect Chiriches deal

Tottenham Hotspur manager Andre Villas-Boas is keen to revisit a potential deal for Steaua Bucharest centre-back Vlad Chiriches, according to the Daily Express.

Chiriches, who has won 19 caps for his native Romania, was strongly linked with a switch to White Hart Lane earlier this summer but the move collapsed after Steaua's imprisoned owner made his strong opposition to the transfer abundantly clear.

However, with Spurs still rather short of options in the heart of defence, it seems as if Villas-Boas has not lost hope of finally completing a deal for the highly-rated 23-year-old.

Spurs, who have reportedly been offered a deal including £93 million and Portuguese left-back Fabio Coentrao by Spanish giants Real Madrid in exchange for Welsh starlet Gareth Bale, have already been busy in the transfer market this summer and now look set to smash their transfer record once again with the capture of Brazilian playmaker Willian from Russian outfit Anzhi Makhachkala.
