Chelsea striker Demba Ba is set to join Serie A side Roma after agreeing a deal which is likely to be completed in the the next 24 hours, according to the Metro.
The Italian club wants to add another striker to their ranks after letting Pablo Osvaldo leave for Southampton in a £15million deal and have already signed Gervinho from Arsenal.
Reports are suggesting the transfer could trigger a huge move including Chelsea and Tottenham.
If Blue’s boss Jose Mourinho sanctions the sale of Ba, the Special One will step up in his efforts to sign Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney - or move to plan B or C that is rumoured to include Porto striker Jackson Martinez.
The news will alert Spurs' manager Andre Villas-Boas, who will be keen to bring in Roma's £32million-rated striker Erik Lamela.
The Argentina striker had been linked with Liverpool but the White Hart Lane outfit is believed to be favourites to capture his signature if Ba's move to the Stadio Olimpico comes to fruition.
Spurs are currently in talks with the player's representatives as they brace themselves for Garth Bale's departure to Real Madrid for a fee of £93million, while Roma's director of sport, Walter Sabatini, has reportedly been in London for negotiations with the Gunners.
