Pro Evolution Soccer 2014 have struck a potential blow in the battle with FIFA 14 after announcing that the game will be released a week before their rival.
Konami made the announcement at Gamescom earlier today - less than 24 hours after Electronic Arts made their big unveiling at a press conference in Cologne.
PES 2014 will launch on the 20th September in the UK on Playstation 3, Xbox 360 and PC. A demo will also be available on the Sony console on September 11th, with the Microsoft version to follow the next day.
The FIFA 14 demo comes out a day before on September 10th, but perhaps crucially, the release date in the UK is September 27th. It comes out in North America three days earlier.
Konami's press conference in Germany focused on 'Trueball Tech', a new innovation powered using elements of Kojima's Fox Engine - which powers Metal Gear Solid 5.
It promises to provide better player reaction to receiving a pass, with a player able to control weight distribution and direction of travel.
Additionally, PES 2014 will offer improved battling for possession and better overall visuals. The game also has the licence for the UEFA Champions League and UEFA Europa League.
