Tottenham are edging closer to selling Gareth Bale in a deal worth €109 million that doesn't include full-back Fabio Coentrao, according to Gazetta dello Sport.

Spurs are believed to be closing in on deals for Anzhi Makhachkala's Willian and Roma starlet Erik Lamela, which has prompted suggestions that Bale could edging towards the exit at White Hart Lane.

Rumours surfaced yesterday that Spurs were willing to do business and sell Bale for £93 million plus Coentrao, who Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti has confirmed wants to leave the Bernabeu this summer.

Now Gazetta dello Sport report that Tottenham's technical director Franco Baldini is in Madrid to put the finishing touches to a deal that no longer includes Coentrao because terms could not be agreed, and is now worth €109 million in cash.

Bale has not featured for Spurs in pre-season for over a month, and is said to desperate to complete his switch to Spain.

The Italian newspaper add that Spurs have moved to replace the Madrid-bound Welshman, and having already sealed a deal for Willian are closing in on Lamela, and that representatives from Roma were also in Madrid today.

Reports elsewhere suggest the deal for the 21-year-old could be in the region of £30 million.

Bale has not featured for Spurs in pre-season for over a month, and is said to desperate to complete his switch to Spain.

Despite all the speculation currently surrounding Tottenham, boss Andre Villas-Boas was tight-lipped when asked about potential ins and outs earlier today.

"None of the names you have mentioned have signed for Spurs", he said ahead of Spurs' Europa League play-off against Dinamo Tbilisi tomorrow. "I have answered about Willian in the past – not only time with Tottenham but also Chelsea. All the players are great, great players.

"On the players that are here, we are moving forward. We are not only trimming the squad but adding tremendous talent. I think we can become very, very strong regards to last season.

"It depends what deals we are able to conclude before the end of the market. We are looking to be stronger than before."
