Alfonso Ramos books FIFA Champions Trophy final place

Published Add your comment

Alfonso Ramos booked another final date with Bruce Grannec after a 2-0 victory over Francisco Cruz in the second semi-final at the Champions Trophy in Cologne.

The pair met in last year's showpiece event in Vancouver, and it was 'the machine' who took the honours on that occasion in Canada.

But, the Spaniard Ramos will hope to turn the tables on his great rival after beating his Portuguese opponent in the last four.

Both Ramos and Cruz opted to play as Real Madrid, a reoccurring trend among the best players of the game. However, this match was a tight affair, with neither able to break the deadlock in the 90 minutes.

That quickly changed in extra-time however, with a scrappy Mesut Ozil goal opening the scoring in the first additional period.

Ramos then went ultra-defensive in an effort to secure the victory, but he scored on the counter attack to send the youngest ever FIWC champion packing.

The showpiece final is set to take place at Gamescom in Germany, and we'll bring you the results of this titanic battle in the immediate aftermath...
