Andre Villas-Boas has confirmed Tottenham are interested in signing Anzhi Makhachkala star Willian.
The Brazilian has been stringently linked with a move away from the Russian giants after Anzhi's owner Suleiman Kerimov were rumoured to have put all of his major stars up for sale.
Villas-Boas had previously failed to be drawn on speculation linking the north London side with a move for Willian, however Villas-Boas has now admitted they are holding talks with the attacking midfielder.
Villas-Boas told reporters: "None of the names you have mentioned have signed for Spurs.
"All the players are great, great players. We will see some new players in defence and attack.’
"I can’t really confirm anything regarding Willian. But there is interest in the player and there have been conversations."
The Portuguese coach also refused to go into great detail on Gareth Bale's current situation.
Real Madrid target Bale hasn't travelled with the squad to Georgia for Tottenham's upcoming Europa League match against Dinamo Tbilisi - but Villas-Boas refused to say why he will not be involved in Thursday's match.
"I cannot say anything about that but it is not true [that he has already signed for Madrid]," he added.
"Ideally we want to keep everyone. Anything can happen. We are in the last few days of transfer activity."
