Spurs, Schalke, Galatasaray and Wolfsburg are the four teams mentioned by Bild with an interest in the Arsenal attacker - but it's the presence of the White Hart Lane club that is the biggest surprise.
Andre Villas-Boas would be taking a huge risk moving for a north London rival, and the 28-year-old attacker doesn't really fit the profile of a Spurs signing under the Portuguese manager.
Tottenham are also thought to be chasing Roma playmaker Erik Lamela and Anzhi star Willian - two players that would occupy similar positions in a potential Spurs lineup to Podolski.
Podolski is the subject of transfer speculation reportedly because he's unhappy at his squad role within the Arsenal team.
He's often substituted by Wenger if given the start and rarely completes the 90 minutes.
The Germany international was one of Arsenal's high profile signings last summer but has yet again struggled to hold down a first-team place so far this term. He's been used as a late substitute in the first two matches of the season - against Aston Villa and Fenerbahce.
He insists that he's happy at Arsenal, but admitted his future is beyond his control.
As quoted by Bild, Podolski said: "There are always requests. I have no influence. But I feel that I am appreciated here.
"The fact is I have a contract at Arsenal. There is no reason to leave the club. But football is very much a business. However, so far nothing has happened."
As return to Germany could be on the cards, with Schalke touted as the most likely destination of the four clubs, according to the report.
