It appears Tottenham are preparing for life without Gareth Bale, of course, there may only be a few players at his level or higher, certainly not players that are available to Spurs, though.
But why have one Gareth Bale, when you could have two? Or certainly two players of the same mould. These players come in the form of Anzhi Makhachkala attacking midfielder Willian and Roma striker Erik Lamela.
Tottenham appear to be ready to replace Gareth Bale with the addition of Anzhi Makhachkala attacking midfielder Willian and Roma striker Erik Lamela.
With both players potentially costing £30 million each, it looks as though Spurs are about to receive a very large amount of money from somewhere, and I'll give you a clue, Tom Huddlestone has already left!
Lamela and Willian would fill the gap left by Bale perfectly at Tottenham, because as a pair they have everything he does, the dribbling, the pace, the shooting, the crossing, the skills - anything he can do, this pair can do too, yet, not many people know a lot about Lamela, despite his growing reputation.
We've all heard a lot about Willian but here's the other guy, certainly just as good and who knows, maybe one day he'll be on of the worlds best.
Lamela began his career with Argentine club River Plate, whose list of past players include those such as Esteban Cambiasso, Javier Mascherano, Gonzalo Higuain, Radamel Falcao and Alexis Sanchez to name just a few.
He spent three years with the club after making his debut in 2008, but his breakthrough season came in 2010-11, where he made 34 appearances in the league, scoring four goals along the way, but due to the slightly bizarre format of the Argentine Primera Division, River Plate were relegated despite finishing in sixth place.
That summer he moved to Italy to join his current club Roma – still aged just 19 – in a rather complicated deal that has become accustomed to signing South American players with third party ownership, I won't bore you as it is very complicated!
Lamela is a player with a lot of skill, he takes players on, and has a fair amount of flair, he certainly isn't a player afraid of taking another on, and with a fierce left boot he appears to be the best possible replacement for Bale, and with Lamela at the age of just 21, he has his whole career ahead of him, a potential world beater? He might just be.
Chuck in Willian as well, with Soldado up front, and Spurs have a squad perfectly capable of challenging for those precious Champions League places!
