Tottenham boss denies Bale bid has been accepted

Tottenham manager Andre Villas-Boas has denied that a world record transfer for Gareth Bale has been finalised with Real Madrid.

Spurs are currently on the brink of smashing their club record deal yet again this summer, after Brazilian starlet Willian underwent his medical in a proposed £30m deal with Russian club Anzhi Makhachkala.

AVB's summer spending ceases to end there; with the club also pursuing a £20m deal for 21-year old Erik Lamela from A.S Roma.

If Spurs are able to complete both deals before the transfer window shuts in under two weeks time, it will take their expenditure to just under £110m, after already recruiting, Roberto Soldado, Paulinho, Nacer Chadli and Etienne Capoue.

Despite many believing these funds to have largely come from the world record £95m Bale deal, boss AVB has insisted nothing has been agreed with Madrid.

"This is not true", the Tottenham manager said ahead of their Europa League play-off against Dinamo Tbilsi.

AVB however refused to comment that sporting director Franco Baldini is in the Spanish capital finalising a deal to move Bale to Madrid.

"Ideally we want to keep everyone to make us stronger - that is the ultimate objective of the club," the Spurs manager said.

"In the end, anything can happen. We are dragging ourselves into the last weeks of transfer activity and it can become very, very frantic."
