Manchester United defender Jonny Evans is targeting all three points when Chelsea visit Old Trafford on Monday night.

The Northern Ireland international believes it's vital the Red Devils win their first home match of the season - in order to send a clear message to their title rivals.

Chelsea, meanwhile, are in pole position to sign the England U21 international Eric Dier.

The 19-year-old featured regularly for Sporting Lisbon last season, but the Blues are prepared to trigger the defender's £4.2m release clause.

Manchester City will need to spend just over four millions pounds if they want to sign Atletico Madrid defender Martin Demichelis.

The Argentina international is wanted by City boss Manuel Pellegrini, who is keen to sign a new central defender after Vincent Kompany was ruled out for a month with a groin injury.

Arsene Wenger was delighted with his side's surprise 3-0 victory over Fenerbahce in the Champions League play-off round first leg on Wednesday night.

The Arsenal boss praised his side's determination and subsequent performance.

Andre Villas-Boas believes Tottenham will be stronger this season, despite the expected loss of Gareth Bale to Real Madrid.

The Portuguese coach is excited by the prospect of adding top-class talent to his squad in the coming days - and believes Spurs will improve as a result.

And finally, Daniel Agger has snubbed Spanish giants Barcelona in order to stay at Liverpool.

The Danish defender revealed that he never considered leaving Anfield, while also declaring his love for the Reds.
