Paris Saint-Germain defender Thiago Silva has put an end to questions about his future by signing a contract extension which will see him remain at the club until 2018.
The decision is sure to delight manager Laurent Blanc as he looks to not only retain the Ligue 1 title, but also to become a more potent force in Europe.
Silva played a huge role in helping the club secure the title last season with some stellar performances in the Parisians' defence, and club president Nasser Al-Khelaifi has spoken of his delight at tying him down to a longer deal.
"We are very proud to extend Thiago's contract, he's an exceptional player both on and off the field," he said in a statement.
"He symbolises the aim of PSG to construct one of the top performing teams in Europe."
Throughout his time in Italy, Silva became one of the most highly rated centre-backs in world football, earning the club captaincy and winning both the Serie A title and an Italian super cup.
This will come as added good news to the French champions after highly-rated midfielder Marco Verratti also signed an extension taking his stay at PSG to 2018.
