Chelsea could be on the verge of snatching Willian from under Tottenham's nose after they launched a last-gasp bid for the Brazilian's services.

Spurs looked to be on the verge of breaking their transfer record for the third time this summer having agreed a reported €35 million fee with Anzhi for Willian's services.

Now however Sky Sports reporter Bryan Swanson claims that Chelsea have lodged a late bid with Anzhi which has been accepted and that they could snatch the playmaker from Tottenham's grasp.

Should Chelsea seal the signing of Willian it could spell trouble for one of their "three amigos" - most likely Juan Mata.

The Spaniard has been linked with above away from Stamford Bridge this summer despite being Chelsea's player of the season twice in a row.

The news comes as a major blow to Tottenham who had hoped to land the 25-year-old as Gareth Bale edges towards a move to Real Madrid.

Spurs have also been linked with a move for Erik Lamela from Roma, with his brother confirming on Twitter that he is close to mobbing to the north London club.
