Lukas Podolski has emerged as a surprise target for Tottenham after they enquired about the availability of the German international, reports the Metro.
Tottenham are on the look out for a left-sided player as Gareth Bale looks set to leave north London for Real Madrid.
Spurs have looked at a number of options with regards to spending the world record fee they will receive for Bale with AS Roma star Erik Lamela being linked with a £31m move.
And German reports have suggested that they were one of a number of clubs to register an interest in Podolski.
Schalke 04 remain the likeliest destination for the 28-year-old with Galatasaray and Wolfsburg also retaining an interest.
Podolski has fallen out of favour at the Emirates recently and has found his route to the starting line-up blocked by Santi Cazorla and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain this season.
He featured in a cameo appearance at left-back against Aston Villa for a matter of minutes and was given just 10 minutes against Fenerbahce last night.
Further doubt loom over Podolski's Arsenal future after it was reported by the BBC that Arsene Wenger is lining up a move for Real Madrid winger Angel Di Maria, who would directly compete with Podolski for a place in the team.
