Arsenal are currently working on a deal to bring both Karim Benzema and Angel Di Maria to the Emirates, reports the BBC.
The north London outfit are prepared to pay up to £40m for the French striker Benzema as they look set to miss out on Liverpool forward Luis Suarez.
Speaking after his side's win in Turkey against Fenerbahce in their Champions
League qualifying play-off first leg, the Arsenal boss stated the chase of
Suarez was over after Liverpool rejected two bids for their Uruguay forward and insisted he was not for sale so no 3rd bid would be made from Arsenal and Wenger.
Wenger told BBC Sport: "Absolutely no chance of that," Wenger speaking about the chances of capturing Suarez's services this summer.
Wenger has admired Benzema's talents since the striker was at Lyon and would reportedly love to add him to his squad.
The Arsenal boss is also interested in signing Madrid left winger Di Maria who joined Real Madrid from Benfica in 2010. The Argentine winger has been linked with a move away from Madrid all summer and Wenger is looking to take full advantage of this.
Wenger spoke about Arsenal's transfer situation and carried on to say: "Quality wise we do not need, but numbers wise we are short,"
Wenger continued. "We lost Arteta and Diaby. We are without three international midfielders. We will try and bring one in but we are working on that. What you have to understand is that there is still a long way to go.
"The transfer market really starts now, a lot of activity will happen between now and 2 September. We have 12 days. A lot will happen. It starts now."
