Tottenham defender Danny Rose scored a superb curling effort as the North London secured an emphatic 5-0 win over Dinamo Tbilisi in the first leg of their Europa League play-off.

Rose has had an impressive start to the season with a superb display in Spurs' opening game win at Crystal Palace, with this latest strike greatly enhancing his chances of making the left-back spot his own.

Sunderland will look back at what might have been, after declaring an interest in signing the young England defender on a permanent basis following an impressive loan spell for the Mackems last season, but Andre Villas-Boas made it clear Rose was in his first-team plans.
