In a pre-match press conference ahead of the game against Manchester United Jose Mourinho gave a strong hint of signing Willian from Russian club Anzhi Makhachkala for £32million.
"He's (Willian) already made his decision," said Mourinho. "I don’t like to speak before time because football can betray you..
"But I know what the player wants and at the moment we cannot hide that it’s a possibility."
"The best thing to do is to do the medical in secret. If the player is fine you can sign him. If he is not fine, you don’t destroy his career and you can protect the situation."
So, considering the quotes from Mourinho, if it is true, Chelsea are going to form a formidable midfield in a bid to win back the Premier League title.
Lampard, Van Ginkel, Ramires, Hazard, Oscar, Mata, Moses, Schurrle, Kevin de Bruyne, Obi Mikel and now Willian will fight to earn their places in the first XI. Healthy competition among the players will make ensure top quality football from Chelsea. It is also alarming to other clubs as Chelsea are signalling their strong ambition to reclaim Premier League title under Jose Mourinho.
Mourinho also claimed: "The point is not to sell. I want a 22-player squad. If somebody comes somebody leaves. Do we need to sell, no. Do we need to loan, probably yes."
"I think 22 is a perfect number for our needs in different competitions and to leave the door open to a few kids to come up. If somebody comes in somebody will leave."
So most probably Victor Moses, Demba Ba and some youngsters are going to be loaned out to accommodate the new marque signings to make 22-man squad to challenge for titles available this season.
