Russian Premier League: Top five goals of the week

Published Add your comment

There were some wonderful goals scored in the Russian Premier League scored last weekend as Rostov climbed to the top of the table ahead of illustrious counterparts Spartak Moscow and Zenit St Petersburg.

Rostov are two points ahead of Spartak after five games this season - having won four and drawn one - while they maintain a lead of three points over Zenit.

Zenit have already lost once this season, while Spartak and CSKA remain unbeaten, but while they manage to keep hold of Hulk, then they remain in contention to win the title this season.

The Brazilian best was during the defeat of Anzhi last weekend as he curled a beauty into the top corner to send his side on the way to a 3-0 victory over the beleaguered club.

Anzhi have been forced into major cost cutting measures after two years of exorbitant spending, and find themselves second bottom of the league after two points from five matches.
