Real Madrid may bid for Luis Suarez, but only if Karim Benzema ends his association with the club, according to the Guardian.
In what may prove to be another twist in the Suarez saga, Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers has said that they are preparing themselves for a possible bid from Madrid for Suarez. Though Rodgers still maintains that the Uruguayan is not for sale, yet this is seen as a possible invitation to Madrid to bid for their star player.
That may only be possible if Benzema departs, which is looking increasingly likely as Arsenal prepare to launch a £46m bid for the Frenchman. Real can use these funds then to acquire Suarez, which would ultimately come down to then a swap of their striker.
But things are not as rosy as they sound, with Rodgers maintaining a hard public stand on his reluctance to sell Suarez. However, he may be open to sell the striker outside England, with Suarez also reiterating earlier in the summer that he would prefer to move to Madrid.
Also, Benzema may not prefer to depart. He has always been happy at the Spanish club and has no desire to leave. He is believed to be a personal favorite of the president Florentino Pérez, who had traveled to Lyon to sign the striker.
But, with Arsenal possibly the most desperate club to sign a star player, Madrid may see this as a chance to sign the much-admired Uruguayan at the cost of Benzema.
If they do manage to sign Suarez, and hold their nerve to bring in Gareth Bale, they will have an attacking trio of Cristiano Ronaldo-Suarez-Bale, which on any day has the potential to demolish any team.
