Sergi Canós is a Spanish footballer born on 02/02/1997 who mainly plays a central striker roll but can play on the right wing.
He hails from a small town on the eastern side of Spain called Nules, with a population on average of 13,750 people.
Although being at the very young age of only 16, he has represented his country at U16 level and already broken records in the La Masia.
But what exactly are Sergi Canós’ strengths and is there any concerns regarding his move to Anfield?
Here are a few points:
His physical strength. Canós’ main trait would be that once he is on the ball, it is really difficult to dispossess him and, standing at only 5’5", he is still strong on the ball. Would this excite you as he develops into a senior player? Could this be one of his best attributes?
He can play with both feet. Although preferring his right foot, he can play many aspects of the game with both feet equally as good, whether its finishing, crossing or simple Tiki-Taka passing.
Finishing. Speaks for itself really, as the lad was a goal machine at Barcelona, more than likely the reason Arsenal and Manchester City both wanted him. He got his break into the Barcelona Cadet A team in the absence of Alexis Meva who had suffered a long term injury, but taking his place Canós banged in 15 goals in 13 games.
Composure. He is a level headed player who puts all his confidence into his abilities. This is a valuable talent to have as if he taking on a player, having the full confidence in being able to dribble past the opposition does indeed play a huge factor in actually getting past his marker.
His wage is a concern. Barcelona offered him a reported €18,000 a year in which he turned down to jump at the chance of Liverpool who offered him a reported €36,000 a year. That would work out to be €692.30 a week for a 16 year old. €2,769.23 a month for a lad who plays is the academy. I hope this wouldn’t be a weakness but I hope that football is his priority over his wallet.
Will he settle? Always a huge factor in young talent coming from abroad. There is big change. Especially to a 16 year old, his surroundings, circle of friends, team mates even climate change can be a problem sometimes, but we can just wait and see.
The youngster doesn't have weaknesses to show as of yet, as there is not a lot of information on him to be seen because he is still of young age, but next year we will all get a better scope as to who SergiCanós is, but nevertheless, Welcome To Liverpool FC Sergi.
