We all know how recently there has been an uproar in criticism surrounding Arsene Wenger regarding his ability to attract new players to Arsenal.
In the past days Arsenal have been trying to discuss a potential deal with Newcastle, for midfielder Yohan Cabaye, but is this really the kind of player Arsenal need at the moment?
Arsenal already have quality central midfielders including Santi Cazorla, Mikel Arteta , Jack Wilshire and Aaron Ramsey. Cabaye simply is not needed with a midfield as quality as that. The real area that needs improvement in the centre of defence.
Looking at their opening day loss to Aston Villa, defence is definitely the area that needs improvement. Mertesacker although he is a quite recent addition to Arsenal, is quite simply not quick enough for the intensity of the Premier League.
With players such as Danny Welbeck and Daniel Sturridge bursting through defences Per Mertesacker simply does not have the pace to deal with them, Thomas Vermaelen is an all round good centre-back but is missing the start of the season through injury.
A deal that has been frequently linked with Arsenal during the last few days is the double swoop of Swansea City's pair Michu and Ashley Williams.
A deal like that could be ideal for Arsenal; a new solid centre-back that can easily keep Premier League strikers at bay, and a new clinical finisher to partner with Giroud in Striker would be a very good decision.
We all know Michu is simply a goal machine, and for Arsenal to compete for Champions League spots and possibly the title they need a goal scorer.
Williams would be the perfect signing during Arsenals current position, with injury common in the Emirates Williams would fill the gap nicely, he also is very keen on a move to Arsenal.
Michu would be good to catch in a double deal but is not the only striking option Arsenal have.
With the likes of young Roma striker Erik Lamela linked with a move to the Premier League along with players such as Robert Lewandowski with in Arsenal's price range, there are many options for Arsene Wenger to strengthen his attack.
All in all, however, Swansea's pair look an amazing option Arsenal must consider.
