Jose Mourinho has insisted that Juan Mata will not leave Chelsea this summer.

Manchester United have reportedly made contact with Chelsea to inquire the availability of Spanish play-maker Juan Mata.

Red Devil boss David Moyes is keen to bolster his squad as he targets Blues Juan Mata as his marquee signing for the summer.

The 25-year-old, who failed to feature in Blues' Premier League opener against Hull City last weekend, has not been assured regular football under Mourinho.

However, the former Real Madrid boss claimed that the winger-tun-play-maker is part of his plans in his second tenure at Chelsea.

Mourinho told reporters: "He is a player we all like, he is a player we want to keep. We want more quality in the team, not less.

"Juan is not a player we want to lose."

However, the Portuguese manager admitted that there could be other departures from the Stamford Bridge as futures of Galatasaray target John Obi Mikel and former Wigan star Victor Moses remains to be answered.

"The point is not to sell, the point is I want a 22 player squad. Do we need to sell? No we don’t. Do we need to loan? Probably yes, I don’t like to work with a big group of players," he added.

"If somebody is coming, somebody will leave."

Chelsea are reportedly close to completing the signing of Tottenham target Willian, which only casts further doubt over the future of Mata.
