Arsenal fired a warning shot to all those who have dismissed them lately with an impressive 3-1 victory over Fulham at Craven Cottage.
The win comes as a massive relief to manager Arsene Wenger, who has been facing pressure from disgruntled fans after the 3-1 loss at home to Aston Villa last week.
Despite some very evident negatives such as frequent injuries to a very thin squad and no marquee signings to date, Arsenal can go into the derby against Tottenham next week with confidence. The impressive form of Ramsey, which he has continued from the end of last season and the goal-scoring prowess of Olivier Giroud are aspects that will please Arsenal fans.
Jack Wilshere started on the bench following his exploits against Fenerbahce. Two important Champions League ties sandwiched in between three Premier League games for an injury-stricken Arsenal team is something Wenger had to contend with.
Since coming back from injury, Wilshere is yet to full find his best form and there is the risk of burnout from too many games. But the decision to bench Wilshere, looked a wise call ahead of a potentially decisive game against their fierce rivals next week.
Of course Arsenal must strengthen, that is imperative. And with injuries leaving their first team squad depleted, three or four signings are ideal down the spine of their team.
Wenger is hopeful of signings next week, telling Sky Sports "Before next weekend? It's possible.
"Honestly, I'm not the only one that can decide that because the clubs who sell the players [are involved too].
"We are on the market, you know that. I know you expect news from us. We will try to give you some but at the moment, nothing to announce."
But with what will be a more healthy looking side heading into the North London derby, along with the possibility of some new faces, the doom and gloom surrounding Arsenal at the moment is a bit premature.
