Chelsea are set to sign Cameroonian striker Samuel Eto'o from Russian outfit Anzhi Makhachkala, according to The Daily Telegraph.

The 32-year-old, who arrived in Russia from Inter Milan in August 2011 and subsequently became the highest-paid player in world football, will apparently join Jose Mourinho's side for £2 million as part of the deal to bring Anzhi's Brazilian playmaker Willian to West London.

Mourinho, who returned to the Stamford Bridge dugout this summer after a six-year absence, has been in the market for at least one new striker during the current transfer window after doubts were raised about the futures of both Fernando Torres and Demba Ba.

Manchester United's Wayne Rooney is understood to be his preferred target, but the experienced Eto'o will certainly provide a vital boost to Chelsea's attacking options along with Willian, who was widely believed to be on the verge of completing a move to London rivals Tottenham before deciding on an apparent change of heart.

Chelsea are in Premier League action tomorrow evening as they face a daunting trip to Old Trafford for a keenly anticipated clash with the reigning Premier League champions.
