Liverpool: Is this finally their season?

Published 4 Comments

If you play, watch or have ever even seen a football you will probably know Liverpool fans are taunted for their popular phrase: "next year will be our year".

Yet again, that phrase could be proven wrong - but here's the catch: what if this year is their year?

The great history of the club dictates that should the squad not reach the top four, the manager hasn't done a good job. Could Brendan Rodgers be the man to finally clean Anfield of the disappointments and the could-have-beens?

The first few games have shown that Liverpool are starting where they left off last season: a strong squad with strong partnerships. With the additions of Kolo Toure and Iago Aspas, you can only imagine they will become better and better as the season goes on.

You could say it all hangs on the decision of one man. One of the hardest working players to populate the footballing world currently settles for Merseyside and the majority of fans will hope he does for the rest of the season.

If Luis Suarez doesn't 'do a Torres' then City, United and Chelsea will all be given a run for their money. His abilities combined with the strike-force that is Philippe Coutinho, Daniel Sturridge, Aspas and maybe even Fabio Borini would surely make any defender run for the hills.

Then again, Liverpool could just strike out for another season and bid their time. You just never know with football. After all, a ginger-haired Mancunian called Paul became one of the best footballers in history. Now who could have seen that coming?
