Manchester City were defeated by newly promoted Premier League club Cardiff City in Sunday afternoon's fixture.

The Welsh club came out on top with a 3-2 victory over the Citizens in a game which saw Cardiff gain their first three points back in the Premier League.

South Wales was taken by storm as visitors Manchester City slumped to defeat after taking the lead in the match through Edin Dzeko. Cardiff City completed their comeback with an equalizer eight minutes after Manchester City took the lead, through Gunnarsson.

Fraizer Campbell finished the comeback with two headers from corners.

Manchester City fought back, earning a goal in stoppage time through new signing Alvaro Negredo, but the header turned out to be a consolation as City fell to their first defeat of the season after two games.

This defeat will make the headlines tomorrow but more importantly, this will be a big psychological blow for Manchester City in their race to reclaim the title from neighbours Manchester United. The Red Devils can take advantage of this by defeating Chelsea on Monday evening.

David Moyes can have the upper hand on both Chelsea and Manchester City if he was to be successful against Jose Mourinho.

If United fail to pick up three points against the Blues, then Moyes will be in a similar situation to Pellegrini having played two games, winning one and losing the other.

In Cardiff's terms, this victory will be delicate to them in their battle to stay in the top division in England. If Cardiff were to be successful from relegation, defeating Manchester City in their second game is a positive start.

Malky MacKay will have much more to think about as the season progresses, but a 3-2 victory over Manchester City will given all the motivation the Scotsman needs to drive his team forward in the Premier League table.
