Below are my choices for the World XI. Let me know if you agree or disagree with these by commenting in the box below!

Manager: Jose Mourinho.

The best manager in the game now Alex Ferguson has retired and his 4-3-3 inside forward formation fits perfectly with the team.

GK: Manuel Neuer

The Bayern Munich and Germany stopper has been in imperious form over the past few seasons. With Iker Casillas spending most of last season on the bench and Petr Cech having an unspectacular season, Neuer is the only real contender for the starting spot.

RB: Philipp Lahm

Another German international with real quality.Lahm can play on either flank but is at his best on the right. Guardiola is experimenting with him in the centre of midfield but right back will always be where he is at his best.

CB: Thiago Silva

The Brazil and PSG captain is arguably the best CB in the world at the moment. He was vital in his country's success in the Confederations Cup and superbly kept the Spanish attack at bay during the final. He probably should've gone to Barcelona as at PSG you feel he will never fully have the career a player of his quality deserves.

CB: Giorgio Chiellini

The towering Italian has been superb for Italy and Juventus over the past couple of years. He is the perfect combination of hieght, strength, pace and intelligence required to be a top central defender.

LB: Ashley Cole

Cole has been a stalwart for club and country for over a decade now and even at the age of 32 still has very little competition for his spot in this team.

There are players starting to push him like David Alaba and Jordi Alba but they will need to show several seasons of consistent form before they can be considered on Cole’s level.

CM: Xavi

As arguably the finest central midfielder the game has seen for a long time Xavi would walk into pretty much any team in any era. His ability to control a game is second to none and despite approaching the end of his career is still peerless in his position.

CM: Bastian Schweinsteiger

He is a player I have been a huge fan of for years and in the past two or three seasons has really flourished. His devastating missed penalty in the Champions League final clearly lit a fire in his belly as last season he was sensational both domestically and in Europe.

CAM: Andres Iniesta

Year after year this man gets better and better. The past two years have seen him pick up virtually every honour the game offers, to go along with his bulging collection of club and international winners medals.

Players like Juan Mata, Mesut Ozil and Mario Gotze may start pushing him for his spot in a few years but right now Andres Iniesta is on a level of his own.

RW: Lionel Messi

The world's best player, it's as simple as that. Played as a right wing inside forward to accommodate a lone striker but it doesn’t really matter, as he would do damage even if I put him at right-back.

ST: Robin van Persie

A few players could argue their case for this spot with Radamel Falcao, Robert Lewandowski and Milan Mandzukic probably being the main ones but Robin van Persie has smashed it over the past couple of seasons for Arsenal and Manchester United. He has started this season where he left off with in four goals two games.

LW: Cristiano Ronaldo

Obviously Ronaldo needs no justification either, he is the complete package.
