Reports from The Sun that Arsene Wenger looks set to place a bid of £10million bid for Newcastle United  goalkeeper Tim Krul alongside his team-mate Yohan Cabaye could be finalised.

The Arsenal boss has been under intense pressure to invest in his squad following a backlash
from Arsenal fans.

Wenger is also confident of closing the deal for Real Madrid winger Angel Di Maria for £22million.

Deadline to seal the deal is September 2, as the transfer window closes in seven days.

With Karim Benzema's agent stating that the Real Madrid striker is not for sale, this is a massive blow for the Gunners.

Benzema was hugely linked with a move to the Emirates, but it now looks like the deal will not be going ahead.

Wenger has been looking to strengthen the squad with a goalkeeper and midfielder with Cabaye and Krul are the likely candidates to do this.
